Like a good majority of the professional kite world, this past winter Manuela Jungo and I both found ourselves in Western Australia.
A week or so into the trip, just after an amazing sunset session at Woodman’s Point Manuela came to me with an idea. She wanted to do a kite video together and wanted it to be something totally different than either of us had done before.
The plan was to tell a story from the perspective of two girls traveling together in search of adventure who happen to see kiteboarding for the first time. We wanted it to show kiteboarding from a whole new perspective…
… One that most of us remember from somewhere in the back of our minds as an amazing, spellbinding experience but one that doesn’t often come across in kiteboarding videos these days.
So we ran with the idea and had a lot of fun along the way.
We went shopping for costumes and found these crazy hats that are authentic to Western Australia (they’re designed for keeping the flies away since they are so abundant out in the desert if anyone was curious). Manuela found us some props and we had tons of giggles getting into character as we explored different areas looking for cool authentic landscapes.
During the shooting it was really easy going. We spent a couple days driving around to new spots around Western Australia so we really were on a foreign adventure.
Overall, we enjoyed creating this light hearted flick and hope viewers have fun watching it.
