If you also spend most of your time in the water and are looking for a natural way to take care of your hair which gets dried out by the sun and the sea, trust us, this completely homemade mask really works and also give your head a lovely little sweet smell of banana.

The deluxe version of this mask requires also adding a few drops of castor oil which has a high content of vitamin E which contributes to the health of your hair by providing flexibility, shine and growth.

What do I need?

  • 2 Bananas
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon of castor oil

What to do?

It couldn’t be easier! Just mix all the ingredients in a blender until they are a paste (if possible not too liquid otherwise applying it is going to be complicated) or for the more courageous, mix by hand ensuring the bananas are completely crushed out and until you obtain a well blended pasty mixture.

How to apply?

Our mask must be applied to well washed hair which has then been well towelled dry. We can apply it with our fingers, focussing on the roots because as this optimises the healing effects. Finally, we wrap our hair in a nice warm towel, a plastic film or several layers of aluminium foil. This is because heat promotes the penetration of active ingredients in the hair fibres.

We keep the mask on for at least 2 hours. Then rinse well and wash thoroughly with shampoo.

A little extra … we can create our own homemade rinse water to compliment the effect of the mask and bring even more brilliance to our hair.

1 litre of mineral water and 1 tablespoon liquid honey is all we need to mix together to make this.

How to keep the mask?

Because creating the mask takes a little time and we may not always be with out friends at this moment to share the experience, we can still keep our little concoction for later in the freezer. Place the rest of the mask in a small freezer bag or in a sealed plastic box that has a lid and can withstand the freezer. Just make sure to let the air escape from inside the bag and place in freezer.

Then when we want to reuse the mask we just have to remove it from the freezer two hours before, so it defrosts. Not so difficult.
