QUIZ: Should You or Could You Be Riding Boots?

Is this the first time you have even thought about riding boots?*
- Yes, to be honest it hadn’t crossed my mind before.
- No, I had thought about it a couple of times but wasn’t sure if it was for me or not.
- All I think about is whether I am ready to make the switch and which pair of boots I should buy.
- I am already riding boots.

Would you consider yourself a ‘freestyle’ kiter?*
- Not at all, I am strapless surf, long ballads and wind in my hair style.
- Style? I don’t consider myself to have any style quite yet, but I’m hopeful.
- Yes, my main focus is jumping, doing tricks and improving my freestyle.
- Erm, …don’t you mean ‘wake-style’.

How often do you think about adding style to moves you can already do?*
- I can’t do any moves.
- I think more about adding moves I can do to my style.
- I hadn’t thought about it a whole lot until KiteSista started talking about it.
- My moves have style, I tweak, I grab, haven’t you seen me on the water.

How confident are you with your kite control?*
- I prefer to think of it more as my kite controlling me.
- I am comfortable, just please don’t come too close with your kite or that comfort will fast disappear.
- I am all good with the kite, I am its commander and it listens to me, …mostly.
- I am my kite, I think it reacts. I usually use a kite-loop to water start.

How confident are you in the water?*

- Very. With my flotation vest, board leash, helmet and other safety devices, I float, so why do I need to know how to swim.
- I am confident in the water, I can swim, but should it all go wrong please come and rescue me as quickly as possible, especially if I don’t have my board to hold on to.
- I crash, I get dragged around in the water, I fall out of the air, it’s all part of the fun and I can take it.
- Kitesurfing is nothing, when I go surfing I regularly get held under for more than 30 seconds by big waves and still come up with a smile.

Do you un-hook when you ride?*
- Un-what?
- Never on purpose, maybe one day, but not today.
- I do, although it often ends in disaster but I’m getting there.
- I rarely even hook back in between tricks these days.

What tricks are you currently working on?*
- I am not, but I see other doing them and often dream that one day that will be me.
- Jumps, back-rolls and front-rolls.
- Railey, Railey, Railey, Railey, Railey, Railey ..then maybe an s-bend.
- BJ3, 313, B2B, BM, SM, SS3.

How committed are you to wanting to ride boots?*
- Not at all, I told you already, in fact I do not even know why I am still filling out this quiz.
- I could definitely try it, but not sure I would want to ride in them all the time
- I am committed, I think I can make the switch and am prepared to with my straps.
- I don’t even remember what riding in straps feels like any more.

What boots would you think about buying?*
- Hunter Wellies, I hear they are very practical and I would get good use out of them.
- I hadn’t thought too much about it, but not too expensive to start with.
- The ones that match the colour of my board and kite of course.
- Ronix. There is no other choice.

Did you need to do this quiz to find out if you are ready to ride in boots or not?*
- Not until they make them for surfboards, no, but I am interested to see my result anyway.
- Yes actually, I hear everyone else talking about them but am not really sure if I am ready or not, or what all the fuss is about.
- I am going to get boots, I know it, but just making sure that there is nothing I do not know that might help my choice.
- Ready? …I am only thinking about what my NEXT pair of boots will be.
